"Just to make sure I see what I see. I see a smaller sail on an unknown board, allegedly with frpgear hydrofoil Fly-Fin, and it is moving slightly upwind very close to the shore where waves are crashing to slow the movement. I see a large green sail on FANATIC board that barely moves in comparison to the smaller sail. I assume that the smaller board with a smaller sail is on plane thanks for and FANATIC with a large sail is not on plane. My question to FANATIC designer is: "Why do you advertise your FANATIC as easy and early planning while this evidence demonstrates that it may not be true compared to really easy and early planning designs? Or, FANATIC is easy to get on plane but other designs are getting on plane even easier, as we can see it here. It is just probably FANATIC's definitions of the terms "easy" and "early" without specifically providing the data of wind and sail conditions to the consumers."

"It looks like FRPGear hydrofoil Fly-Fin makes the red sail go better upwind against white water waves. FANATIC seems to be struggling with such of a sailing condition and this is the question to FANATIC designer who promoted this board to plane very early and it does not even go, even it stops on a small wave even with a large sail. The two FANATIC boards that ride away from the shore, away from white water look very aggressive with much of the water splashing and boards bumping much, but surprisingly slower compared to a very smooth ride of the smaller red sail in harsher conditions of white water, which makes me think that frpgear hydrofoil Fly-Fin is just amazing if not awesome if I may note here."

"This could be a new big thing in the sport of windsurfing. I have seen this in Canadian Hole, NC, USA on an older 160-liter board. The Fly-Fin makes that old board look like Tesla on acceleration compared to JP's that are mostly used by Canadians there. Pumping is not a part of your acceleration any more if you have the Fly-Fin—the board just sprints with the wind while all the JP owners are struggling to get on speed by pumping. With 12-inch depth you can start right off the shore line while wide JP owners have to carry their boards like 100 meters. It is definitely an advantage at strong wind from the shore to enjoy flat water while under strong wind where waves have not developed yet. No need to worry about sand bars so much. In the best location to windsurf like OBX, NC JP hydrofoil is not usable at all considering 3-foot average depth of water."

"What was the wind speed? I can see JP Super Lightwind was trying to accelerate on 0:47 and on 1:11 but failed to get on plane. "Why does it go so fast?"

"It has been known that a smaller low cost foil, if correctly designed, may be more beneficial to fly the board faster compared to a large hydrofoil. From a hydrodynamic science perspective, you do not need to take the board out of water completely in order to reduce drag. It is because the skin friction on a typical board surface is minor compared to the induced drag. The larger foil as they are often designed for safety and practicality are resulting in higher induced drag compared to correctly designed smaller foil, that, I assume, we are witnessing on this video. I think the authors of this technology have a deep understanding of hydrodynamics and probably used digital methods of fluid dynamics to find a solution. This is a very significant achievement because the attempts to add a small improvement foil to the fin have been around for over 50 years without tangible results. Check their other video recently posted on how this low cost Fly-Fin hydrofoil rides under 5m sail side-by-side with JP Super Lightwind under 7.5m sail. It is like a day to night comparison because it seems like the foil is working like a motorized propeller because it is impossible to understand where the power is coming from the board to move it so fast. It seems to be impossible like when you watch birds stay in flight for so long without even moving wings. This is definitely a new big thing in windsurfing."
